In many organizations, the Human Resources (HR) function is perceived more than just an administrative and ancillary wing. The role of HR in today’s organizations worldwide is professed as a ‘People & Change’ function which primarily ensures that the workforce and people related structures, policies & processes are adaptable to the changing business environments and meet market demands.
While in the market today there are considerable technology platforms to address prime facets of HR functions operationally, it becomes vital for HR to address the culture of change within the organization as a strategic business partner.
Organizations are made up of people, and made by the people. Today, we live in an ever changing environment caused by external socio-economic-political factors which further demands that the management of change within organizations needs to be a core part of the role of HR professionals, as many of the issues concern the ‘people aspects’ of change.
On that note, the HR function in today’s organizations should be primarily responsible for achieving sustainable people performance, building capability and confidence and landing transformational change by closing the gap between theory and practice, which means a thorough and seamless implementation of a change program. Any change program which is not managed correctly can strain the HR function’s ability to help the business create and maintain competitive advantage in the market.
HR professionals at all levels from Junior to Senior management need to have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to not only adapt to change, but to also identify when it’s needed and how to successfully leverage such opportunities by partnering with business plans for the future.
I am optimistic that after reviewing the content of the HR Booklet 1st Edition, the 2nd Edition of the HR Booklet will be equally powerful and relevant to today’s market conditions and will serve as a useful tool for HR Professionals like yourselves to leverage the knowledge imparted and be ahead of the market.
